The setting: the state of Leonida
GTA 6 is set across the fictional state of Leonida, a modern-day take on Florida. Its centrepiece is a reimagined Vice City, alongside the Everglades-inspired Grassrivers, the Leonida Keys, Mount Kalaga National Park, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia.
Two protagonists: Jason and Lucia
You play as Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a criminal couple pulled into a state-wide conspiracy after a heist goes wrong. Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in the mainline series. Meet the full cast.
Price and editions
There are two editions: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99. Ultimate adds exclusive vehicles and weapons, while both include the Vintage Vice City Pack when pre-ordered. We break it all down on our editions page.
Trailers so far
Two official trailers have released: Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 in May 2025. Marketing is ramping up through summer 2026, so expect more — we'll post any new trailer the moment it lands.
Who's making it
Rockstar Games is developing GTA 6 on its RAGE engine. Notably, it's the first mainline Grand Theft Auto not written by longtime series writer Dan Houser.
